Cassandra- Collagen Boost - New Products Boast the Beauty Benefits of Collagen

COLLAGEN BOOST

People are preoccupied with protein, and collagen—a form of it found exclusively in animals known for supporting strong nails, skin, teeth and more—is having a moment as part of the ingestible beauty trend. Collagen has become a popular dietary supplement via drink powder or pills, and now it’s being added to more edible products, including coconut whip and protein bars.

KALUMI BEAUTYFOOD

Per Game Changers, 34% of U.S. youth have consumed a protein bar in the past six months, and Kalumi BEAUTY bars are a dairy-, gluten-, GMO-, and soy-free option; the bars contain marine collagen peptides for healthy skin, hair, and nails, superfoods like sweet potatoes and coconut, and organic yacon syrup instead of processed sugars. Available in three flavors, the collagen protein bars were dreamt up by models Chrissy Blair and Jayla Harnwell, who wanted healthier snacks that are still convenient for their on-the-go lives.

PRIMAL KITCHEN

Started by a former elite endurance athlete and paleo diet expert, Primal Kitchen produces healthy salad dressings, condiments, collagen drink mix, and now grass-fed collagen protein bars. Each of the four varieties is free of dairy, gluten, grain, soy, and whey, low in sugar, and high in healthy fats and protein. The collagen in the bars, which is reportedly easier to absorb and digest than when taken in capsule form, helps with hair, skin, nails, and gut health.

NEOCELL

NeoCell, which has been selling collagen-based products for over 20 years, is adding two flavors of cookie bars to its offerings. Each bar contains grass-fed collagen to support hair, skin, nails, and joints. For every bottle of NeoCell products sold, the company donates money to Vitamin Angels to provide a child a year’s worth of crucial nutrients. Despite the “cookie” in the name, the protein bars are considered a health product; 47% of Trendsetters eat protein bars because they think they’re healthy for them.
