Kalumi's guide to #bikiniready

Hey babes! It’s June, which means summer has officially started and we’re here to help you feel AMAZING in that new bikini you’re dying to wear. When we think of summer we think of dewey tanned skin, flowing sunkissed hair, and our body in its best shape all year just basking in the sunshine. In reality, this is rarely (if ever) how we actually feel on that first day of bikini season.

Now, for a more accurate description (unless, of course you live in Tahiti...jelly!)... The aftermath of winter has our skin feeling dry and dehydrated with a side of pasty. Our hair is damaged and full of split ends from coats and hats rubbing it all winter long, and our bodies are the perfect representation of “netflix and chill” (the literal kind).

BUT don’t fret, we’re sharing the secrets to looking and feeling your best all year round. Being models, our job requires us to stay #bikiniready no matter what time of the year, what time of the month (yes, even that time), or what time of the day (5 am call times anyone?). So you can trust us when we say, we got this!

For skin:

Filter free selfies? Yes please!

Consuming collagen, rather than applying it topically or injecting it, provides the entire body with the nutrients it needs to support and promote a glowing youthful complexion with REAL and, more importantly, lasting results. It helps repair the body's connective tissues and promotes collagen synthesis, transforming the skin from within! Consuming Marine collagen has been shown to help hydrate the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and even the complexion. Marine collagen has also been shown to help reduce sun damage of the skin!

For hair:

Similar to the skin, hair needs adequate nutrients to survive and flourish. Many people think that because the hair contains dead cells, nothing will help it grow longer and stronger. However, Collagen plays a big role in renewing cells and is responsible for maintaining the health of hair, skin, nails, and joints.

According to Nutrafol, Marine collagen specifically, has a large impact on the regeneration of hair follicles, preventing hair loss and leading to re-growth. Collagen possesses antioxidant properties and fights free radicals in the body, which are responsible for damaging hair follicles. Therefor, consuming Marine Collagen greatly strengthens hair follicles and drastically improves hair growth.

For cellulite:

According to Ben Greenfield Fitness, collagen helps to form the connective tissue in your skin, ligaments, and tendons. So, if the collagen in your body isn’t formed properly, your connective tissue can become too thin and the fat and toxins underneath your skin can poke through, causing cellulite.

Consuming a full 12 gram serving of marine collagen (Yes, Kalumi BEAUTYfood contains a full serving in every bar!) can help boost the collagen levels in our bodies, preventing the formation of cellulite! Yes please!

For weight management:

Our top tricks for managing our weight (even on vacay!) include:

  • Workout daily, whatever you enjoy! We like a combination of cardio, yoga and dance.
  • Eat a lot of protein! Kalumi BEAUTYfood contains 15 grams of protein from wild caught, sustainably sourced Marine collagen, nuts, and in Cheeky Chai’s case, seeds. Protein is essential in weight management
  • Eat lots of healthy fats! The nuts, seeds and cocoa butter found in BEAUTYfood are a great source of healthy fats for sustained energy and maximum absorption of the collagen, antioxidants and protein found in Kalumi BEAUTYfood.
  • Consume Organic Yacon syrup, as it has been shown to have metabolism boosting properties, is Low GI and is a prebiotic fiber (good for the tummy!) More on Yacon syrup here

So there you have it! Kalumi BEAUTYfood is a must have addition to your summer essentials. It is the perfect combination of protein, healthy fats, antioxidants and deliciousness to leave you beautifully glowing all summer long! After all, we did make it for ourselves :)
